March 2020: From Bad Timing to Good Videos

March started off like a normal month. Things were rolling smooth for us the first two months of the year, and we were very excited with where things were at. As we all know, the way the month ended was worlds different than how it started - literally. It quickly grew into something weird and unknown and scary and anxiety ridden and down right out-of-control. And it doesn't matter who you are - you're affected by it.

RELEASING OUR RUNNING SOCKS

Funny story - the day we released these running socks was the day directly AFTER people in the US started realizing that the Coronavirus is a serious thing here. You might remember it: the day after the March Madness tournament was cancelled. The day after the first NBA player was diagnosed with it, and people were hit with the fact that that COVID-19 doesn't care who you are. The day after people started being scared to go outside. Now cue the release of our running socks...which were encouraging people to go outside and enjoy the "great outdoors". We couldn't do anything except laugh at the irony of this timing. Let's just say - it wasn't the strongest sock release we've ever had.

MESSAGES ABOUT COVID-19

Where's the rulebook that we're supposed to follow during a time like this? Obviously no one has ever gone through anything like this, so etiquette surrounding it is unknown. All we knew is that it didn't feel right to not say something. Though our business overall has definitely been affected, our day-to-day hasn't changed much. We don't have our own brick-and-mortar location, so we haven't had to close. We are still able to ship, put emails out, post on social media, etc. But regardless of that, we wanted all of our customers and followers to know that we're with you through this change. You're not alone; our thoughts are with you. We hope that you are able to find some encouragement in each company who acknowledges that times are different, and while we're being sensitive to that, we're also doing our very best to be a source of something that's somewhat "normal".

HELPING THE HOMELESS DURING COVID-19

Our partner of the month for March was so special because not only was it our first time partnering with a shelter in Alaska, it was also such a cool reminder that - no matter where you live, people experience the same things. People in Alaska are dealing with the Coronavirus. People in Alaska deal with homelessness!

In the video above, our awesome point of contact from Fairbanks Rescue Mission, Krystel, was able to share with our audience about some of the ways the homeless community is feeling the impact of COVID-19; and she also shared some ways to help your local shelter. If anyone has questions about how to help a shelter local to where to you live, please reach out. We'd be happy to help connect you.

TRYING SOMETHING NEW

Some of you may have seen (and participated) in a survey that we put out to every person who has ever purchased from us during March. With business being slower than usual, we've been using this time to connect with our audience in some ways that we haven't in the past. We truly enjoyed the honesty of the answers we received - thank you to all who shared.

In light of that, we decided to make a video addressing the top issues that we saw in the answers to our survey. We know that our answers aren't perfect, and we have so much room for growth...but we thank you for accepting us how we are right now. Thank you for growing with us. For forgiving us. For ordering from us. We've said it a million times, but you are all the reason what we are still here.

SPREADING JOY THROUGH COLOR

One of the biggest struggles during this time for us is knowing what to share. Should we push sales? Release new products? Create more mission-focused content? Simply just keep checking in so you don't forget about us? We want to be sensitive to everyone's situation right now, and we hope you can feel that. That's why you may see a wider variety of what we typically do - because just as everyone else is, we're figuring it out as we go.
