WE RELEASED T-SHIRTS

by Keeton Yescott May 01, 2020

April was weird because the weather keeps warming up, the days are getting longer, and everybody is getting more and more antsy to spend some time in the sunshine. Meanwhile, we've all been in lockdown due to COVID-19 - which has only increased the antsy-ness! Here at Sky, the month of April has been a lot of last minute preparations for our t-shirt release. For you, it's a surprise. For us...we've planning this since January!

WHY T-SHIRTS?

Over the past 2 years, we have asked our shelter partner’s what their top needs are, and we have consistently been told t-shirts. A lot of people donate their old t-shirts to shelters (and that’s awesome) but what we heard from them is that they were lacking in receiving donations of new, white shirts, which is what they like to give to their residents to sleep in and to use as undershirts.

This got us thinking: why don’t we sell shirts? Since it’s something that all of us wear almost on a daily basis, there’s a huge opportunity for us to make a difference for our partners. Every shirt purchased from us will be matched with a new, white shirt given to our homeless shelter of the month.

NOT YOUR REGULAR T-SHIRT, THOUGH.

"There's soft, and then there's bamboo."

When we made the decision to commit to developing a t-shirt line, we knew that we didn't want just a regular old t-shirt. We had experimented with bamboo material on some of our socks and people have always raved about them whenever they felt or wore them. Knowing this, we started exploring what bamboo t-shirt options we would have. While it's definitely not the cheapest material we could have chosen, the softness of the shirt makes all of that worth it! Read more about our bamboo t-shirts here.

On top of the quality, we also wanted our designs to be unique to us and something that fit into where the brand stands currently. We worked with an extremely talented graphic designer who captured everything that we were wanting so perfectly, and I think he gave us some really cool options to offer our customers for the first round of t-shirts.

The fun part about t-shirts is that as time goes on, we can continue to release different designs and colors and styles, continuing to explore different avenues of our brand - and that's definitely something we plan to do if our first release is received well!
